Investment Insurance Scheme The Investment Insurance Scheme is a special insurance facility for Dutch companies that wish to insure their investments abroad. The Dutch government has established the Facility for Reinsurance of Investments (RHI) in order to expand and strengthen sustainable economic ties between the Netherlands and host countries. Within the framework of the RHI, Atradius offers investment insurance against political risks related to foreign investments. Atradius reinsures the covered risks entirely with the Dutch State. The Minister of Finance has a yearly amount of EUR 453,780,000 for the RHI at its disposition. This facility applies to the countries that are selected each year by the Dutch government. In principal an Investment Protection Agreement (IPA) has to be concluded with these countries. An IPA imposes mutual obligations on governments when it concerns the treatment of an investment on one another’s territory. This facility is intended for enterprises that participate actively in Dutch business and for instance a joint venture or participate in the share capital of a foreign company. In line with the Dutch government policy to stimulate Corporate Social Development (CRS), a number of specific aspects of the CRS will be taken into account when assessing an investment insurance application. Particular attention will be paid to environmental and social impacts of the investment, the observance of fundamental labour standards and the combat of corruption. | | | |
