Emerging Markets Guarantee Facilty

This facility is intended for the export of capital goods, services or construction projects to developing countries for which there is no cover available under the regular export credit insurance facilities, but where the government is prepared to offer tied or untied development aid to these countries.

Because the government does offer standard reinsurance for export transactions to all developing countries, the Atradius subsidiary, Atradius Dutch State Business N.V., offers additional insurance possibilities in cooperation with the government. The Ministry of Economic Affairs reinsures the risks covered. With these facilities the Ministry of Economic Affairs attempts to stimulate the economies of the mentioned emerging markets and to encourage the cooperation between Dutch companies and institutions in these countries.

The Emerging Markets Guarantee Facility offers exporters the possibility to be insured against payment risk in a number of emerging markets. Cover in such cases is only possible if these countries are qualified to receive aid from the minister of Overseas Development, whether tied or untied.
