International Consultation The Dutch Government has committed itself to international agreements that can influence decisions on export credit insurance. Agreements have been made under the terms of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), the European Union and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Besides these agreements, Atradius is also a member of the Berne Union. The commitments that result from these agreements are of importance to exporters and banks in their negotiations with buyers and borrowers. One of the aims of international agreements is to reduce competitive distortions as a result of government support as far as possible. This issue plays a particularly important role in consultation between governments within the WTO (formerly GATT), the OECD and the European Union. Atradius acts as an adviser to the Dutch government in relation to these consultations. Within the framework of these organisations international agreements have been made. The main agreements have been laid down in the Consensus.
